The Children's Farm welcomes little guests.....
Life-Changing Crash leads retired postal worker to tend friendly goats, sheep, emus, ducks, geese, variety breeds of chickens.....

03/15/2006....
After some tempestuous years and despite lingering physical pain, a retired postal worker has found a peaceful corner of central Delaware and a passion to share it....
Arnie Samson calls his six Townsend acres... "The Children's Farm"... because it has grown to be a haven for the small animals that youngsters love to visit and touch.
Indeed, the day Samson and his wife closed on the place in 2001, they had the start of a menagerie, a dog and four cats given to them by the former owners....
Now there's also a pond filled with Muscovy ducks and Toulouse geese, a fenced field for four emus which lay giant emerald eggs, pens of Dorset sheep and friendly goats, some with newborn kids--watching the kids bounce and play is a pure delight and arrangements for baby goats may be made....FOR PETS....
Samson has a soft spot for homeless animals; many of his come from owners no longer able to care for them. He's got an even bigger love for needy children and city kids who've never known a farm. For the past several years he's invited churches and schools, charities, special-needs classes, home-school families and stay-at-home parents to visit.....
Samson has the fervor of someone who's been given a Second Chance at Life.......Until Oct. 21, 1986, he was a big, strong man who worked the midnight shift at the Hares Corner Post Office..... (That night on his way to work stopped for a red light on U.S. 13 south, his car was Violently rear-ended by a DUI/DWI going 70 mph, driven by a man with a blood alcohol count of 0.28 and 3rd DUI OFFENSE)....
With crushing injuries to his legs, Samson said he was out of work for three years, eventually suffered a breakdown and had to seek counseling with Twelve Step Program--as Adult Child of Alcoholic---"Where I found my higher power, my peace, and I'm a survivor," he said....Very Blessed w/ a Mission.....
Scars on his legs bear witness to his injuries. He still needs physical therapy/aqua therapies, but can walk without crutches and braces, though not without pain. While his wife goes off to work at a bank, Samson cares for the animals, which look clean and healthy and show their comfort by breeding....
His biggest delight is letting the kids enjoy the animals and their babies......feeding and petting them.....even selling some for pets for kids to take home.
He'll even give instructions for hatching chicks from his chickens' fertile eggs, if a family buys an incubator. And "when the chick gets big enough to fly over the backyard fence," he says, he'll welcome all animals back to live at The Children's Farm....and kids can come down an visit their pets anytime---just call..........(302) 378-2341 or email......And Make An Appointment.....
