Moved 360 Blog to Yahoo Profile Page

Looks like Yahoo is making effort to compete with the other social networking sites. Closing down 360 and merging it with the Yahoo Profile is a good step. When people subscribe to CITY-o-Clay I always check their Yahoo Profile. More times than not the profile is set on "private" or there's no information there at all.

Maybe Yahoo needs to give people incentive to use their Yahoo Profile in a social networking manner. One suggestion I'll give for free is "Make removing an unwanted connection easier." I have a porn spammer as a connection and I didn't invite her. I don't want her on my connections list. I'm on her connections list and that's not right.

I want a way to say "No WAY!" when people add me as a connection without my knowledge and against my will.

I want a way to remove folks from my connections and the Yahoo Help solution doesn't work. They say go to the "contacts" list, the drop down menu will have a "connections" list, remove the connection from there. This porn spammer doesn't show up on my connections list. So much for that unhelpful solution.

I'm sure that the wrinkles will be ironed out. I mean when enough of us complained that the new Yahoo Profiles didn't show the date someone joined Yahoo that got fixed right quick.

Yahoo should allow one to add WordPress blogs and Bebo. I got my YouTube and Blogger updates on my Yahoo Profile. But they are fallow at present. This might make me add more videos or use Blogger more. A lot of my blogs were created as an experiment for CITY-Computer CITYzens, to let them know how easy or difficult these free blogs were.

Well I'm hungry so I'm off to forage.

Dear AT&T Yahoo! 360° customer,

To read this in Vietnamese, please use the link at the bottom of the message.

We will be officially closing Yahoo! 360° on July 13, 2009, to focus our efforts on making your new profile on Yahoo! the place where you connect with the people who matter to you most. As a result, you will need to move your 360° information to your new profile before this date. After July 12, 2009, your content on Yahoo! 360° will no longer be accessible. Here are some details to guide you through this transition.

What you need to move to your new profile
Your 360° information will not be automatically transferred to your new profile on Yahoo!. To move your profile photo, nickname, and any personal status messages, you’ll need to first save or download them before July 13, 2009. Once you’ve saved this information, you can later upload it to your new profile. Be sure to check out your new profile soon so you can make it look just the way you want.

What to do with your blog
Be sure to take your blog with you as part of this transition process. To help, we’ve built a blogging tool for you in your new profile on Yahoo!. We’ve made the move easy; it takes just one click to take your posts with you. If you’d prefer to take your blog to a different website instead, you can download an archive of your posts and transfer them to your new blog space. Click here to read more about your blogging options.

Some content will not be supported in your new profile
Please note that your new profile will not allow mature content. Also, you will not be able to take the following with you to your new profile: your 360° inbox, testimonials, friend categories, local reviews, RSS feeds, tags, or custom theme. If you want to retain any of this material, we strongly recommend that you return to your pages and download it before July 13, 2009.

Your privacy settings are retained
Your privacy is important to us. Both your new profile and your blog contents will be set to “private.” This means unless you change the setting, you will be the only one able to see your profile.

To help you through this transition, we’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions and resources here . We’ll be sending another email 14 days before 360° closes to remind you to set up your new profile.

Thank you for your support of Yahoo! 360°.

I tried to post this and it didn't show up. If I get a duplicate post I'll remove one of them.

Entry for April 13, 2008

I almost picked this picture to be my avatar. The flash was too close and then I Photoshopped it to have more contrast. It was cyberpunkish enough for me. But I'll just put it here for now.

All the avatars I have online, scattered here and there, are being updated with the picture taken today. Bushyaib, my third born 32 year old son, took my picture, sans make up, sans updated hair dye, sans white of the eye. When I smile big my eyes become black crescent moons. Can blindfold me with dental floss with them eyes. Anyway a more truthful representation of what I look like is what was the goal of today and by George, I think we've got it.

March 03, 2008

Yahoo Answers connects to the 360 pages, I just discovered. So I thought I'd best update this blog to let folks who wander in from that area know that I'm aware of their visit and all that hip and happening stuff. If you are still consumed with curiosity then go check out my website. NoraJean.Com I just moved it to a new webhost and there's some clean up that's going on post move, but it'll give you an idea of what I do as a pro bono online art teacher. The latest news is a claymation project I've been invited to be involved with by some folks down in LA. It's all on "spec" so I'm wringing some tutorials for the ClayMates out of it.

So that's the story morning glories. The bit that's fit to print anyway.
