I wanted to blog about the soccer that I've seen, coached, and been around, but things change in a hurry. Today, I broke down into tears. A terrible accident claimed 4 lives today in this area. At first, details were sketchy. initially, reports were that it involved a school bus from where I coach soccer. That later turned out to be an early assumption by a reporter that was trying to hurry a story. My usual soccer practice was cancelled today. One of the parents didn't know this. She called me and said that her child's bus was late and so he wouldn't make it. I had to act normal while she talked. The whole time, I already knew that there was a local bus accident in her area that had killed some children. I knew of this because Kim works at a place that has those big tri-axle dump trucks visit very often to get stone. She had been told the story by people from the trucking company that ran into the bus just minutes after it happened. The accident happened near France Park (a place just outside Logansport and Royal Center in Indiana). The following news clip is from a television station out of Indianapolis that was reporting on the situation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the bus driver, the special needs children from Twin Lakes, and to Mr. Dixon (the truck driver and former police officer that was involved in the accident). May God watch over all of these people.
