John 15:1-2
KJV I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Notice that both branches get cut. The difference is in how we respond to the pain of the pruning. In many ways, the way that we bear the pruning is how we know that we are growing in our relationship with God. Do we get bitter, or better? What does the experience of loss or hindrance expose in us?
Our Father is a faithful gardener, ready to cut off the things in our lives that don t bear fruit, and reminding the fruitful ones that our life is not in the fruit, but only in the vine.
Isaiah 40:31
NIV but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
KJV But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
It has been said that as we get older the years get shorter and the days get longer! Life can often feel like a race that we are running and can t quite keep up.
Placing our hope in the Lord and the new life that He offers us in Christ is compared here to soaring on wings like eagles-like flying. Imagine it, no longer are we destined to place our hope in ourselves, our jobs, the economy, our friends or a spouse. We now have a hope that cannot be shaken.
When our hope is in the Lord our strength is renewed. Whatever you are facing today you have a choice. Where will you put your hope?
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neith
James 1:17
NIV Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
KJV Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
James is contrasting God s nature with our nature in previous verses. Whereas we are fickle, God never changes.
He gives good (earthly) and perfect (heavenly) gifts to us. Sometimes we see God giving only heavenly gifts - salvation, guidance, peace. But he also gives earthly gifts - prosperity, success, favor.
James balances the earthly and the heavenly when He refers to God as the Father of the heavenly lights, which were seen as trustworthy navigation tools.
We may want to exploit the earthly gifts, or only emphasize the heavenly gifts, but our heavenly guide will use all of these gifts to transform us. The God who does not change uses good and perfect gifts to mold us into t
We were so Blessed Friday night as we ride with the Bikers For Christ and Friday we donated 200 hot dogs and we help to feed the homeless in Omaha. We had 3 people give their lives to the LORD and we handed out bibles and tracks and welcome them all to come and worship Sunday night at 6 pm. We were so Blessed that our hearts are filled with Joy. Yesterday and today are the hottest days of the year to date in NE. Yet what a feeling of joy so much that I feel like crying. I have seen more love in these bikers and willingness to give of them selves than I have ever seen in a Church. These leather wearing big men have so much love for their Lord they reach out and down to all those in need. Matthew 25 comes to my mind. The LORD is telling them that they fed Him and Clothed Him and they asked Him when they had done so? Jesus replied when you did so for the least of mine!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to feel loved, if you want joy, if you want to be whole...........reach out to those who have litt
